Artist Statement

As an artist, my work pulls from my values of tranquility and simplicity. While enjoying adventure and exploration, I also tend to be drawn towards objects and places that bring me equilibrium and stability. Effects of light, interior spaces, geometry, and meditative processes such as weaving, give me this kind of steady tranquility.

In my work, I explore the effects of a minimal and quiet composition. I believe there is a sacred quality in the silent dignity of a still, everyday object, and this kind of image can evoke reflection and meditation. I am also interested in the relationship between structure and fluidity and often work by creating systems that I can edit and create within. The end result is often a layered and excavated image that implies history and exploration.
